OVER THE LEGE – Part 2: The Governor Strikes Back
Over The Lege, the brainchild of Director Stephanie Chiarello Noppenberg, unites the expertise of legislative staffers, improv veterans and comedic writers to bring you a political satire variety show exposing the shenanigans of the Texas Legislature. What better way to learn how to watch over the legislature than through songs, dances, sketches and improv performances?
As the Legislature gets more absurd, the parody of it gets harder.
In spite of that challenge, Part 2: The Governor Strikes Back includes such fresh sketches such as “Danny Goes Shopping” and “ICE ICE Baby,” which address the infamous bathroom bill and the controversy surrounding sanctuary cities. Some new sketches, like “Maternal Mortality Task Force” and “Crowdfunding – Now for Rape Kits,” provide a darker look at the legislature’s policies.
In short, every sketch not only highlights a Texas Legislature-specific policy or politician, but uses satirical comedy to make learning about the Texas Legislature fun!
